TaylorMade P770 Irons

TaylorMade Golf are a company renowned for their innovation and for constantly pushing the boundaries of what is possible with a golf club. They have dramatically altered the landscape in the world of metal woods and with the release of the P790 irons they managed to do the same in with golf irons.The p790 irons are a players distance iron with a head size that appealed to both mid and low handicappers but, for some low single figure players, they could sometimes prove to be too explosive. TaylorMade have now released the p770 iron which promises to be a slightly toned-down version of the p790.

The first thing to say about the p770 is that it is a truly stunning iron with beautiful clean lines and minimalistic TaylorMade branding. It has a thinner top line than the p790 and slightly less offset. The overall head size has also been reduced slightly and the overall look could certainly class as a true players iron. The lofts are also slightly weaker than the p790 and the lowest handicappers will find the improved distance control more to their liking with far less chance of a flyer from grassy lies. The p770 irons do not go as far as the p790 but that is exactly how they were designed to be. Players that sometimes need a little help with off centre hits but demand a certain level of distance control will find everything they could possibly need in this superb set of irons.

Feel at impact is super solid and the forged exterior of the head provides plenty of feel and feedback. Spin rates are more slightly lower than you would find in a fully forged head, but it spins plenty high enough to get the ball to stop smartly on the putting surface.
