There has been a substantial buzz throughout the golf industry ever since the first pictures of the i59 irons surfaced online. With a stunningly sleek and minimalistic appearance, the online message boards went into meltdown as golfers everywhere clamoured for more information on the upcoming addition to PING’s iron range. Any further info was impossible to find though, and we all had to wait patiently for the release day to finally arrive. Thankfully, the wait is now over, and the new PING i59’s have been unveiled to universal acclaim. 

The PING i59 irons are a beautiful players-style forged iron and it is scarcely believable that PING have managed to apply so much cutting edge technology to such a classically compact head. The i59 irons benefit from both a three-piece forged design and a complex multi material construction, and this has allowed them to create the class leading trajectory control and precise shot making that the better player demands. MicroMax grooves make their debut on the i59 irons and this new, tighter spacing has created space for four extra grooves on the fully machined face leading to increased control and consistency in all conditions.

The PING i59 irons also feature a Toe Screw and Tip Weighting which has a dramatic effect on the forgiveness and brings it inline with the superb playability found on the hugely popular i210 irons. This forgiveness level opens this style of club up to the golfer that doesn’t always find the centre of the face but wants to move into a more compact head. The inside of the i59 club-head has been hollowed out and the steel innards have been replaced by a unique aluminium insert allowing for around 30 grams of material to be repositioned for optimal trajectory control and increased forgiveness.

PING’s much lauded Hydropearl 2.0 finish has applied to the i59 irons and adds a further touch of class to their bag appeal. It is a water repellent finish which helps to keep the face moisture free, reducing the chance of unwanted flyers that can seriously damage your scorecard. PING have done an incredible job with the design of the i59 irons. To produce a set of irons that are so aesthetically pleasing, so easy to hit and yet so precise is a feat of engineering that must be applauded. They will without question be one of the best selling irons over the next couple of seasons and will find their way into the bags of golfers of all abilities.

 

The PING i59 are available in three different loft set ups. 

Retro Spec – Approximately 2 degrees weaker than todays standard – ideal for the better player with a strong impact position and low ball flight.

Standard Spec – Lofts inline with the standard of today, a good choice for most golfers with a relatively normal ball flight.

Power Spec – Lofts are around 2-degrees stronger than standard and are the perfect choice for golfers who add loft at impact and suffer from a high, ‘spinny’ ball flight.
